Swisscom Revolutionises Home Networking with the Internet-Box 5 Pro

Swisscom has unveiled its latest innovation, the Internet-Box 5 Pro, powered by SoftAtHome’s advanced software. This cutting-edge gateway, launched on November 20th, is the first in Switzerland to feature Wi-Fi 7 technology, offering the fastest and most reliable home network experience. Exclusively available for Swisscom fibre customers, the Internet-Box 5 Pro is set to transform how households experience high-speed internet.

Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 for Unmatched Speed and Stability

The Internet-Box 5 Pro leverages Wi-Fi 7’s tri-band technology across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the newly introduced 6 GHz band. With a combined speed of 18.3 Gbps, this tri-band connectivity significantly improves network speed, stability, and latency, making it perfect for connected homes. Whether it’s for streaming, gaming, or browsing, the Internet-Box 5 Pro ensures a seamless experience for multiple devices. The device is also equipped with a 10 Gbps Ethernet port, maximising wired and wireless connectivity.

SoftAtHome’s Role in Delivering Seamless Connectivity

At the core of Swisscom’s Internet-Box 5 Pro is SoftAtHome’s software. This software enables the cutting-edge features that deliver ultra-fast speeds and a seamless user experience. SoftAtHome’s expertise in Wi-Fi 7 technology ensures Swisscom customers are among the first in Europe to benefit from these next-gen innovations.

The Power of Wi-Fi 7: Unprecedented Speed and Low Latency

Wi-Fi 7 introduces tri-band capabilities with Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which aggregates three frequency bands to achieve unprecedented speeds and drastically reduce latency. This makes Wi-Fi 7 ideal for homes with multiple devices demanding high-speed internet, ensuring a stable and reliable connection even under heavy usage. The Internet-Box 5 Pro, powered by SoftAtHome’s software, maximises Wi-Fi 7’s potential, ensuring customers get the promised speeds and performance.

Optimised Ethernet Performance and Smart Energy Efficiency

SoftAtHome’s software enhances the gateway’s 10 Gbps potential, ensuring that the Ethernet connection runs at its peak performance. By dynamically managing traffic between wired and wireless devices, the software guarantees that Swisscom customers experience the fastest speeds possible. In addition to performance, the Internet-Box 5 Pro offers exceptional energy efficiency, reducing power consumption by up to 98% by automatically switching off during inactivity. The device is also made from 65% recycled plastic, and its packaging is fully plastic-free, underscoring Swisscom’s commitment to sustainability.

Enhanced Home LAN Management with SoftAtHome

SoftAtHome’s software also enhances home LAN management, simplifying tasks such as device identification and offering features like parental controls and guest networks. Built-in VPN support ensures an extra layer of security for customers.

A Step Towards the Future of Home Connectivity

“The launch of the Internet-Box 5 Pro highlights Swisscom’s ongoing commitment to providing our customers with top-tier Wi-Fi products,” said Marcel Burgherr, Head of Home Devices at Swisscom. By combining SoftAtHome’s software, tri-band Wi-Fi 7, and robust hardware, we’re able to offer the fastest and most reliable home internet service available.

Arnaud Bellivier de Prin, CEO of SoftAtHome, added, “Our collaboration with Swisscom on the Internet-Box 5 Pro reflects our commitment to delivering the future of home connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 is a game-changer, and we are thrilled to provide the sustainable software foundation for Swisscom’s 10 Gbps services.”

    Looking Ahead

Swisscom’s Internet-Box 5 Pro, powered by SoftAtHome’s innovative software, is more than just a gateway—it’s a glimpse into the future of home connectivity. As Swisscom continues to push the boundaries of speed, reliability, and sustainability, the Internet-Box 5 Pro stands as a testament to the power of next-gen technology.
