    Three Advanced Modules

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider in IoT solutions, has broadened its short-range module offerings with three new modules designed to improve cost efficiency, speed, and flexibility for developers bringing IoT devices to market. The three modules FC30R, FCU743R, and FCM740D each offer unique features suited to a variety of applications, enhancing Quectel’s portfolio for IoT solutions.

    Strategic Expansion in IoT Solutions

Norbert Muhrer, President and Chief Strategy Officer at Quectel Wireless Solutions, emphasised the importance of a robust portfolio in today’s fast-evolving IoT landscape: “We’re constantly working to provide our customers with a versatile product range. Expanding our short-range portfolio empowers IoT developers to accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market for new IoT products.”

    Key Module Features and Benefits

    1. FC30R: A Cost-Effective, Compact Wi-Fi Module The FC30R is a highly compact, industrial-grade Wi-Fi module that supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards, making it suitable for IoT applications where space is limited. Its ultra-small footprint, measuring only 12.0 mm × 12.0 mm × 2.1 mm, allows it to integrate seamlessly with Quectel’s 5G and 4G modules as well as application processors from industry leaders like NXP and Texas Instruments. This compatibility supports a range of M2M applications, including EV chargers, mobile hotspots, and gateways, making it an ideal solution for space-sensitive, high-performance deployments.
    2. FCU743R: High-Performance Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.2 The FCU743R module offers dual-band Wi-Fi 4 (supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) alongside Bluetooth 5.2, with data transmission speeds reaching up to 150 Mbps. With its USB interface and compact size (13.0 mm × 12.2 mm × 2.0 mm), it supports easy integration for IoT applications that demand speed and low power consumption. The module’s surface-mount technology (SMT) and low-profile design make it resilient and well-suited for rugged applications, delivering reliable connectivity and durability.
    3. FCM740D: An MCU Module with Enhanced Processing Power The FCM740D integrates Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.2, powered by a high-performance processor with a frequency of up to 120 MHz. It features 256 KB SRAM and optional 2 MB or 4 MB flash memory, catering to advanced security standards like WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE. Measuring 20.3 mm × 15.8 mm × 2.7 mm, the FCM740D’s efficient size and power-management options make it perfect for smart home solutions, IoT applications in high-temperature environments, and consumer electronics. The module provides reliable connectivity in various scenarios, from HVAC systems to smart lighting.

Enhanced Bluetooth Module Options for Expanded Utility

In addition to these Wi-Fi-enabled solutions, Quectel has enhanced its Bluetooth module offerings with new variants. The HCM511S-E and HCM010S-E Bluetooth modules now come with higher transmit power options (up to 8 dBm) and additional antenna configurations, including RF coaxial connectors, pin antennas, and optional PCB antennas. These upgrades provide flexibility for applications in which high signal strength and adaptable antenna options are crucial.

Commitment to Security in IoT Development

Security remains a top priority in Quectel’s IoT solutions. Each module is designed with secure architecture, integrating industry-leading practices from firmware development through to independent third-party testing. Quectel utilises Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) and Vulnerability Exploitability Exchange (VEX) files and includes firmware binary analysis to address potential vulnerabilities, ensuring that its IoT modules offer reliable protection.

    Conclusion

Quectel’s expanded IoT module range solidifies its role as a key enabler for developers, offering powerful, versatile solutions that cater to the growing needs of IoT markets. With advanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, these modules are set to support the development of innovative, secure, and efficient IoT devices, empowering creators to enter the market swiftly and cost-effectively.
