BlueVoyant, a leading cybersecurity firm, has announced the opening of its new Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Cork, Ireland. This cutting-edge facility will provide 24/7 monitoring of Irish and EU clients’ networks, ensuring rapid threat detection and mitigation. The launch marks a significant step in BlueVoyant’s multi-million-euro investment in the EMEA region since 2017, with the company’s local revenue increasing by 70% in 2024.

    Enhancing Cybersecurity Across the EU

As organisations navigate new EU cybersecurity regulations, such as NIS 2 and DORA, the demand for advanced managed security services has never been greater. BlueVoyant’s expansion into Cork aligns with this growing need, offering businesses a next-generation solution to combat evolving cyber threats.

The new Cork SOC represents BlueVoyant’s first permanent office in Ireland, following years of remote operations in the country. The city’s reputation as Ireland’s fastest-growing urban centre and a thriving tech hub made it an ideal location for the company’s expansion. Cork’s strong pipeline of cybersecurity talent, bolstered by local universities and research institutions, further reinforced this strategic decision.

Investing in Local Talent and Innovation

BlueVoyant currently employs nine professionals at the Cork facility, with plans to expand the team to at least 15. Across Ireland and other EU nations, the company employs over 120 cybersecurity experts, including those at its UK-based SOC and Customer Experience Centre in Leeds.

Recognising the importance of nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, BlueVoyant is collaborating with universities and industry organisations to foster local talent. Plans are underway to introduce internship programmes at the Cork SOC, providing students with hands-on experience in the field.

“Cork was a deliberate choice for our new EU Security Operations Centre, given its reputation as a thriving technology hub,” stated Robert Hannigan, BlueVoyant’s Head of International Business and former GCHQ Director. With top-tier universities and a growing talent pool, we are eager to expand our team and further strengthen our presence in the EU. Our commitment to innovation and security remains unwavering as we continue our rapid growth in the region.

    A Commitment to Cybersecurity Excellence

The Cork SOC is led by Ger Kirby, BlueVoyant’s SOC Manager for Ireland and EMEA. Kirby brings nearly 25 years of experience, having spent over two decades in the Irish Defence Forces, where he specialised in IT and cybersecurity before transitioning into the private sector.

“As a Cork native, I take great pride in leading a team that delivers world-class cybersecurity services,” said Kirby. “With the increasing complexity of cyber threats and stringent EU regulations, our new facility will ensure businesses receive the highest level of protection.”

The SOC’s official opening took place on 27th February, with Cork’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Dan Boyle, presiding over the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by representatives from local universities, cybersecurity organisations, and BlueVoyant’s partners, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering collaboration within the industry.

    BlueVoyant’s Continued Global Expansion

As part of its broader mission to advance cybersecurity worldwide, BlueVoyant will participate in the Cybersecurity Career Fair at Munster Technological University on 5th March. This event, co-organised by Cyber Futures, Cyber Ireland, and Road2Cyber, underscores the company’s dedication to developing talent and strengthening the cybersecurity industry in Ireland.

Serving over 1,000 customers across 45 countries, BlueVoyant introduced its award-winning Cyber Defence Platform in 2024. This innovative solution offers advanced security operations for internal, external, and supply chain protection. The company’s expertise was further recognised when Microsoft named BlueVoyant the 2024 Worldwide Security Partner of the Year.

With the opening of its Cork SOC, BlueVoyant reaffirms its position at the forefront of cybersecurity, combining cutting-edge technology with a deep commitment to securing businesses across the EU and beyond.
