Ortus Energy and SSE Energy Solutions lead the charge in sustainable automotive energy with a major solar installation at Kia Stockton.
Ortus Energy, in collaboration with SSE Energy Solutions, has successfully implemented a large-scale solar energy project at Kia Stockton, a dealership in Stockton-On-Tees. This initiative underscores both companies’ dedication to accelerating the shift towards clean, renewable energy solutions for businesses.
Harnessing the Power of Solar
The newly installed 601 kWp solar PV system has been optimised to maximise energy efficiency on-site. Generating an estimated 538,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, the system will cover around 45% of Kia Stockton’s total energy consumption. This transition to solar power is a major step in reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and cutting operational costs.
By adopting solar energy, Kia Stockton will lower its carbon emissions by approximately 110 tonnes of CO2 per year, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
A Long-Term Commitment to Green Energy
SSE Energy Solutions is financing the project under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This model allows Kia Stockton to benefit from a fixed energy rate for 25 years without any upfront capital investment. The agreement provides protection against volatile energy prices, ensuring cost stability while helping the dealership meet its green energy targets.
