Hyundai Motor Group has revealed its ambitious 2025 vision in the New Year’s Address, with Executive Chair Euisun Chung outlining the Group’s commitment to overcoming challenges through innovation, embracing change, and bolstering collaboration across global operations. The message, delivered at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, near Seoul, introduced a refreshed format for the event, encouraging in-depth conversations about the upcoming year’s opportunities and strategic direction.
In his address, Executive Chair Chung expressed profound gratitude to Hyundai’s global workforce for their achievements in the previous year. “The successes we enjoyed last year were made possible through the dedication of each of you,” he said. “It is your unwavering commitment to delivering quality, trust, and exceptional customer experiences that have been at the heart of our growth.”
Chung acknowledged the complexities of both internal and external challenges the Group will face over the course of the year, underscoring the importance of resilience in navigating these difficulties. He highlighted Hyundai’s commitment to innovation as a central pillar of the Group’s strategy moving forward.
“At Hyundai Motor Group, innovation is not just a goal – it is ingrained in our DNA. If we continue to embrace change and innovate, there is no challenge that we cannot overcome,” said Executive Chair Chung.
He further emphasized the importance of creating new opportunities through challenges. “The uncertainty of the future does not intimidate us. Rather, it motivates us to work harder, think smarter, and push boundaries. Challenges do not hinder progress, they spur us towards greater success. We have faced obstacles in the past, and with determination, we have emerged stronger. This time will be no different,” he stated.
Facing the Future: Addressing Predictable and Unexpected Challenges
In his address, Executive Chair Chung classified the challenges ahead into two categories: “predictable” and “unexpected”. He stressed the importance of preparation in overcoming foreseeable hurdles, explaining that it is not just about eliminating risks but understanding the underlying context and historical trends to create long-term opportunities.
“To succeed, we must anticipate and plan for the predictable challenges. This allows us to seize emerging opportunities and stay ahead of the curve,” said Chung. He also outlined the need for Hyundai to be agile when addressing unforeseen challenges, calling for a flexible approach that includes objective analysis, rapid responses, and unified action across the Group.
Chung underscored the Group’s commitment to promoting diversity and innovation, pointing to the recent appointment of José Muñoz as Hyundai Motor’s first non-Korean CEO. “This appointment is a clear sign of our dedication to cultivating a global culture where talent can thrive regardless of nationality, background, or experience,” he said.
A Commitment to Innovation and Strategic Investment
As Hyundai continues to evolve, Executive Chair Chung concluded the New Year’s Address by reinforcing the Group’s focus on innovation and strategic investments. “Our strength lies in our people. Their skills, creativity, and resilience allow us to navigate difficult times. It is because of their dedication that we innovate and grow,” he said.
Looking ahead to 2025, Hyundai Motor Group will continue to build upon its core strengths while forging new partnerships and advancing technological breakthroughs to meet the future head-on. Chung closed by reaffirming the Group’s collective vision, stating, “Together, we will make 2025 a year of transformation, growth, and success.”
