XPENG, a leader in future mobility technology, has officially unveiled its latest over-the-air (OTA) software update, XOS 5.4, set to enhance the driving experience for users worldwide. This global update, beginning on January 2, 2025, introduces significant advancements in intelligent driving, safety, and personalization, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation and providing a more intuitive, secure, and customized driving experience for all XPENG customers.

Multi-Language Voice Control for a Smarter Experience

One of the key features of the XOS 5.4 update is the upgraded XPENG Assistant, which now supports voice control in multiple languages, including English, French, German, Cantonese, and Thai. This broadening of language options ensures that drivers and passengers can interact with their vehicle’s navigation, controls, and entertainment systems in a more natural, intuitive manner. This makes the XPENG driving experience more accessible to global audiences, regardless of location.

AI Guard: Enhanced Security for Peace of Mind

The new XOS 5.4 update introduces the “AI Guard” system, designed to provide enhanced security for users. A highlight of this system is the Sentry Mode, which detects and records suspicious activity around the vehicle when it is parked and unoccupied. The system sends real-time alerts to the user’s XPENG app if unusual behaviour, such as motion or loitering, is detected near the car. In addition, the Driving Recorder functionality captures key events while driving, securely storing footage for future reference. (Note: This feature is currently unavailable in some regions due to regulatory restrictions.)

Improved Smart Driving Features for Safer Roads

XPENG continues to innovate in smart driving with the introduction of the Smart Speed Limit Recognition feature. This new tool automatically detects road signs such as “No Entry” and off-ramp signals, ensuring safer driving by providing timely notifications to the driver. By enhancing the vehicle’s understanding of its environment, XPENG aims to make every journey smoother and more secure.

Personalized Operating System 2.0: More Customization Than Ever

XOS 5.4 also comes with an upgraded version of the Personalized Operating System 2.0, bringing even greater customization options. With new multitasking split-screen capabilities and improvements in the XDock system, drivers can now personalize their infotainment layout and access the features that matter most to them. These improvements make the user interface more adaptable to individual needs, ensuring a more tailored and enjoyable driving experience.

    X-Combo: Streamlining Everyday Tasks

The X-Combo feature, a new addition in XOS 5.4, enables users to automate routine in-car tasks for added convenience. For example, users can now automatically activate child locks when shifting into drive. This feature aims to make daily routines easier and reduce the need for manual intervention, streamlining the driving process for added convenience.

    Visually Enhanced Charging Display

XPENG has also updated its charging visuals to provide a more engaging and visually appealing experience. The new northern lights-inspired animation indicates charging speeds, creating an immersive visual while the vehicle charges. In addition, updates to the driving range display ensure users can view accurate range estimates, with information now aligned to NEDC standards, catering to XPENG’s global user base.

Commitment to Data Privacy and Security

XPENG takes data privacy seriously, and XOS 5.4 ensures full compliance with European data protection laws. The company is committed to protecting user data by adhering to GDPR standards and maintaining ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. Data collected from EU customers is stored securely in AWS’s Frankfurt data centre, and any data transfers outside the EU are conducted in line with approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). XPENG’s commitment to data privacy is supported by an EU-based Data Protection Officer, ensuring transparency in data handling practices.

    XPENG’s Forward-Thinking Mobility Vision

With the release of XOS 5.4, XPENG underscores its dedication to pushing the boundaries of AI-driven mobility. Through ongoing improvements in safety, functionality, and personalisation, XPENG is committed to delivering a seamlessly connected and intelligent driving experience for its users. The company is committed to staying at the forefront of the mobility industry, offering innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of global drivers.
