A New Hub for Education, Sports, and Cultural Engagement
Verny Capital (Verny), in collaboration with the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, has officially inaugurated Kazakhstan’s first multi-functional community centre in Kosshy, Akmola region. This cutting-edge facility, built to international standards, aims to enhance local infrastructure by offering residents access to education, sports, and cultural activities.
With a total investment of $20 million, the 8,550-square-metre complex has been gifted to the city of Kosshy, ensuring accessibility for all. The centre integrates various spaces, including sports facilities, educational hubs, and leisure areas, making it a landmark for community development in Kazakhstan.
Comprehensive Facilities for All Ages
The Kosshy Community Centre features a diverse range of spaces designed to foster education, creativity, and recreation. Among its key amenities are a 233-seat cinema hall, a 328-seat lecture hall, and multiple exhibition and conference rooms. These spaces allow for a variety of cultural events, educational seminars, and community gatherings.
Creative studios offer residents opportunities to explore artistic pursuits, while coworking spaces provide an environment for professionals and entrepreneurs to collaborate. A fully equipped library serves as a knowledge hub, supporting lifelong learning for people of all ages.
For sports enthusiasts, the centre includes a multi-purpose indoor sports hall with spectator seating, designed to accommodate various athletic activities. Outdoor facilities feature football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, catering to both casual players and organised teams. Additionally, the complex boasts workout zones, a scenic walking alley, and an amphitheatre for open-air performances and public events.
Expanding Community Programmes
The community centre offers a broad selection of educational and recreational programmes. Children can participate in robotics, chess, dance, and arts and crafts, while adults can benefit from access to coworking areas, training sessions, and wellness activities. These programmes are designed to create a space where people can develop new skills, connect with others, and enhance their overall well-being.
A Commitment to Social Development
Bulat Utemuratov, Founder of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, highlighted the significance of the project: “We are dedicated to building modern, inclusive infrastructure that positively impacts communities across Kazakhstan. By incorporating global best practices, this centre provides Kosshy residents with an inspiring environment to learn, socialise, and grow.”
The grand opening was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev, Akim of the Akmola Region Marat Akhmetzhanov, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, Dr. Almaz Sharman. Their presence underscored the project’s importance in shaping the future of community-driven initiatives.
Paving the Way for Future Developments
Community centres play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion and development by providing inclusive spaces for education, collaboration, and physical activity. The Kosshy facility is the second major social project gifted to the city by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, following the donation of a modern secondary school for 1,500 students in September 2023.
As Kazakhstan’s first facility of its kind, the Kosshy Community Centre serves as a model for future developments. It offers a blueprint for cities across the country to establish similar hubs that encourage lifelong learning, personal development, and community engagement. By investing in such projects, the foundation is contributing to a more connected, educated, and vibrant society.
The new facility stands as a testament to the potential of well-planned community infrastructure to enhance quality of life, drive innovation, and create opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds.
