The Yoniq Portal handheld price has now appeared on the company’s own website, sitting at $199, with the listing suggesting a pre-order event is being prepared before the year is out. The page itself is still clearly a work in progress: it carries copy lifted from an older product, AI-generated images, and spelling errors, but the price tag and a handful of new photographs are very much present and visible.

What the Yoniq Portal listing actually shows

A reduced figure appears alongside the headline price, pointing toward an early-bird promotion that would bring the device down from £162/$215 to the current £147/$199. The new images fill in some gaps on the hardware side: an SD card slot, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port are visible at the bottom, while the top edge carries a power button, volume controls, and what looks to be a menu button. Whether that USB-C doubles as a video-out connection has not been confirmed.

The most curious detail is a slot labelled ‘Memory Card’ visible at the bottom of the unit. In one image the card appears to be protruding slightly; in another it does not. Nothing has been said officially about this feature, and whether it means you could slot in an actual PS1 memory card remains unanswered. Yoniq has not responded to contact attempts made over the past week or so.

According to Console Classics, the Portal is being positioned around local PS2-era gaming, which would place its ambitions a step beyond the pure PS1 aesthetic it is wearing. That aesthetic is deliberate: the device is designed to resemble the original PlayStation, with a display sitting between two controller sections in a layout that echoes the PlayStation 5 Portal. At $199, it is considerably more expensive than the visual impression it makes, which is closer to a $20 AliExpress clone than a premium handheld.

Yoniq’s other listing and the company’s background

The Portal is not the only Yoniq device to surface with a price this week. The Duo, a dual-screen handheld and the company’s answer to the ANBERNIC RG DS Plus, was listed at $149.99. Like the Portal page, the Duo listing is not yet open for purchase.

Yoniq is a new name in the direct-to-consumer space, but the company itself has been at pains to point out that newness to the public does not mean newness to the factory floor. A contact at the company stated: ‘We have access to some of the most experienced supply-chain and manufacturing resources in China, and our team has previously been involved in the development and production of a large number of handheld gaming devices on the market. This is the first time we are bringing products directly to consumers under our own brand.’ That claim of over 50 years of manufacturing experience across handheld devices for other businesses is worth holding onto when assessing whether the finished product will justify the asking price.

A prototype of the Portal was on show at Gamescom, though the memory card slot that appears in the new listing images was not noticed on the units present there. Whether that detail makes it to the production run, and what it actually does, is one of several open questions the listing raises without answering. A pre-order date has not been announced, but the page activity suggests Yoniq is moving toward one.
