Golden Vega Scam

Retro Computers Ltd announced a competition in the middle of October 2015 whereby 12 lucky winners were to receive a limited edition golden Vega console. According to various articles, for 11 weeks leading up to "Clivemas", one golden ticket was to be inserted into random Vega boxes headed to retailers. On the 12th week, one backer from the original Vega Indiegogo campaign would be randomly chosen to win the final golden Vega console.

Golden ticket

Only 12 golden Vegas were ever going to be made, and the manufacturer SMS were set to give the winners a tour of the factory while handing out the golden Vega prizes. SMS were set to spray paint 12 Vega consoles with special gold paint for the "lucky winners".

The vapourware missing-in-action never to be seen golden Vega

The Vega consoles never made it into the hands of retailers in time for Christmas 2015, but since director David Levy has been at the helm, a further two Christmases have come and gone with no golden Vegas (or Vega+ consoles for that matter).

According to a post on the public discussion facebook group, it is believed one person has found the golden ticket but never received their prize. The random winner from the original Indiegogo campaign has never been announced, and of the remaining 10 golden tickets, not a single person has come forward on media or social media to say they have received their prize.

Once David Levy illegally appointed Suzanne Martin and Janko Mrsic-Flogel as directors, the competition was abandoned. Even if a winner did come forward, it is unclear how contact would be made with RCL to collect the prize. For the last six months, RCL do not have a working website, their twitter account has been dead for over a year, they are not talking to the press, there is no phone support and email would surely get lost in the supposed eight thousand emails Suzanne Martin claims to receive per day.
